"The GrandCanyon of theEast"

let-inspirationpt

Letchworth State Park, known as the "Grand Canyon of the East" is located in Western New York. Open year-round, the 17-mile-long park has special allure for each season. Activities include; hiking, white water rafting, camping, hot air balloon rides, fishing, horseback riding, two swimming pools, nature programs, cabin rentals and Mt. Morris Dam guided tours.

Winter adds snowmobiling, cross country skiing, sleigh rides and snow tubing. Ice crystals and snowy ledges bring brilliance to the 600 foot-deep gorge and waterfalls.

Visitors can dine or stay at the famed Glen Iris Inn overlooking the Upper Falls, enjoy a summer concert series, or explore Native American history at the Letchworth Museum or the Seneca Indian Council House.

Learn about the intriguing life of Mary Jemison, the “White Woman of the Genesee”, who immigrated with her family from Ireland. First settling in Pennsylvania before coming to Western N.Y. Mary is remembered at a 250 anniversary year celebration event near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on April 5. For more information, contact www.gettysburg.com/maryjemison.

Autumn in the park is many people's favorite season. The awesome fall foliage draws leaf peepers from far and wide, and the Letchworth Arts and Crafts Show on Columbus Day weekend attracts thousands.
